I know it is not a problem with the Wacom tablet I'm using because it is completely functional outside of photoshop and outside of those specific tools. I also know it is not a problem with channels because I checked if I was accidentally working on a hidden layer or a quick mask, its not the case.

Dec 17, 2010·Copy your layer that you want the blur on. Use the Gausian or filter of your choice. Blur it until the desired part is blurred enough and maybe a little more. Say OK. Put a mask on that layer and invert it so it is black and it hides the blur. Now you can use a paint brush, hard or soft, your choice.

I’m working with PS 2020 V.21.2.3 on Mac Catalina, my problem is that PS automatically makes colored areas on the last layer and copies them into the layer… This copied color area can only be corrected by the copy stamp, which is not very helpful.
Jan 28, 2015·I have a problem to do this, my overlay brush seems not working when I paint on the layer mask. Nothing happens when I paint over the layer. When I set to other mode (normal, dissolved etc.) it works, but not in Overlay mode. I have check both opacity and flow are , and I already make sure I paint on the layer mask.

I feel like when editing photos, I have more issues with brushes not working with layer masks, I cannot mask out hair as easily. Does anyone else feel this way or am I just not doing it right? CS6 was so simple and effective for my needs, I didn't have to pay every month to use it.

I am sure I am selecting the mask itself and not the layer (paint colors change to only black and white with the slider). My opacity and flow are both at 100. I am using just a standardsoft-edged paint brush. I paint on back, and nothing changes. What's weird is if I invert the layer mask and paint white on, that will show up.

Here is my example: two separate layers. While masking the top layer to blend it over top, it will not fully erase. It seems that it will only erase 99%, leaving 1% there. I'm using the brush at and Hard to the max yet there is still a faint line. Any help would be appreciated, I'm using CS5 Photoshop. This is a new problem I noticed....

If you try and use one of Photoshop's paint tools to paint on a layer but Photoshop gives you the international symbol for "no you're not!", it's probably caused by one of two reasons: (1) You're trying to paint on a Type layer. Photoshop only allows one thing on Type layers—type!
