How to remove a color cast from a photo in Photoshop. A color cast happens when the white balance settings on the camera are different than the lighting conditions. Tungsten lights are warmer than LED, or fluorescent lights.Thus they appear more yellow than regular daylight. Daylight is approx. 5600 Kelvin and tungsten is approx. 3200K.
2) Create a new Background copy layer and create a mask in the layer, as described above in step #3. 3) If the mask in the Background copy layer doesn't have a blue border, click the mask thumbnail. 4) Press Ctrl + i. The mask thumbnail changes from white to black. All of the pixels in the Background copy layer are hidden.

The issue you have with that image is poor contrast. In some areas the wanted detail is the same tone as the background, in some wanted hair is darker than the background and in some it is lighter. You could make the mask in several passes and then paint in the mask for areas where the foreground and background are the same tone.

What is a Layer Mask in Photoshop? A layer mask is a way to reveal or hide portions of one layer in order to reveal or hide a separate layer below. Oct 24, 2018·Add white to a layer mask to reveal. Adding white to a layer mask shows the layer that contains the mask. You can paint with white on a layer mask to reveal content you had previously concealed with black on the layer mask. Press X to switch the foreground and background colors in the Toolbar, so white becomes the foreground color.
Works best for erasing mostly solid-colored, contrasting backgrounds. Photoshop also does a nice job of getting rid of the color halo problem, but you may have to do some additional touch-up work ...
